Roper Lake State Park
After a long day of driving or hiking, the natural hot springs at Roper Lake State Park are inviting and invigorating. Enjoy desert vegetation, an accessible fishing dock, and stunning views of Mount Graham. Roper Lake is stocked with Large mouth bass and Rainbow trout; it’s a great place for kids to catch their first fish. Boats are limited to small electric motors, creating ideal conditions for a sail board or a canoe. Enjoy five miles of trails in the park.
Roper Lake has 30 lake surface acres, a boat ramp, natural stone hot tub, a swimming beach, a day use island with picnic tables and grills, camping cabins, and campgrounds. Reservations are available for camping cabins and select campsites.
This is the last state park in our HOG 76 state park challenge. And I want to thank Jeannie for the challenge. There were some parks we enjoyed more than others, that is to be expected. But by doing the challenge we were able to see a lot more of the state of Arizona than we would have. We were able to travel roads we had not traveled before. We did it and we are more enlightened for it. Minnie and I are new Harley owners and we are planing a long trip on our Tri-Glide and this challenge helped us prepare for it.
One thing I did not like about Roper Lake is the height of their speed bumps. I cleared all of them OK except for the last one by the lake, my tail pipe dragged a little bit. On the return I tried to go a little bit slower. The rear tires did not break over the top and the trike rolled back and the parking brake hit the speed bump and got damaged. It didn’t stop our ride, we were able to make it home and I was able to fix it.
