2018 Summer Ride, Day 86, July 31, Tue

Planned destination

We didn’t have a destination picked until we were eating lunch in Lincoln NH, when Minnie got us s room at a Best Western in Killington, VT.

Planned Stops

No planned stops, but Minnie did have a scenic route that she saw in the HOG membership book that she wanted to do.

Ride Conditions

We had great riding conditions today, as we are riding out of Maine, go figure.

The Ride

We are trying to get to Niagara Falls, the Canadian side. Minnie has seen the falls but only from the United States side. And then we are headed back to Horseheads NY for the Rice family reunion and pick up my item before heading to Ohio to complete our goal of riding in each of the 48 continental states and all the Canadian provinces touching the United States.

Minnie had us taking the Kancamagus, Hwy, 112, which runs between Conway, NH and Lincoln, NH. We met some bikers at a fuel stop and asked them about our route and they advised us to try to do the loop. They said the only problem, with doing the loop, is going through the towns on the route. This is ski country and it can get busy with tourists.

We had a nice ride, weather was cooperating with us. The views were great and traffic, out side of the towns, was non existing.

We did not do the complete the loop, because of time restraints. But we did ride East for a distance to get some and then returned to Lincoln for lunch. I won’t mention the name the restaurant but don’t waste your time getting Mexican food there.

Riding the mountains of New Hampshire and Vermont was a nice pleasant ride. Minnie and I both enjoyed the ride.

Stopped to take some pictures at different parts of our ride. A water fall, covered bridge, a couple of over looks.

Where We stopped for the Night

Killington, VT Killington Mountain Lodge Best Western. This is a ski lodge that has been around for a while. It’s a nice place that stays open all year. It wasn’t very busy when we stayed there. The room we had was great, but we had some issues with the toilet.

The breakfast was very good, first time we had a choice between regular scrambled eggs and cheese scrambled eggs. And the ham was thick pieces of ham steak. I had seconds of ham and cheese eggs.

I would definitely stop here again, especially if it’s off season, the price was good for us.
