Starting 2018 summer ride
Minnie and I have started this year’s summer ride this morning.
We were fueled and on the freeway by 7:30am. Temperature was 81 degrees and the sky was clear. Temperature rose to 100 degrees by 12:30.
We want to stop at five of the National Parks/Monuments that are in the state of Arizona before we leave the state. It’s part of our chapter park challenge for this year. We are see three of them today and two of them tomorrow.
Saguaro National Park, Tumacacori National Historical Park and the Coronado National Memorial.
This was a nice ride thru the desert. We got off the I-10 just south of Marana, AZ and followed the direction on our map below to Saguaro National Park. As we Left Saguaro National Park we rode through Tucson Mountain Park Pass on our way to our next stop.
Tumacácori sits at a cultural crossroads in the Santa Cruz River valley. Here O’odham, Yaqui, and Apache people met and mingled with European Jesuit and Franciscan missionaries, settlers, and soldiers, sometimes in conflict and sometimes in cooperation. Follow the timeworn paths and discover stories that connect us to enduring relationships, vibrant cultures, and traditions of long ago.
Minnie and I have been to this park before and we enjoyed our visit there. To get here you need to ride by Tubac, AZ which is a great place to visit and there is a great state park there also.
The Coronado National Park Memorial commemorates the first organized expedition into the Southwest by conquistador Francisco Vásquez de Coronado.
Where We stopped for the Night
We stopped for the night at the Days Inn In Benson, AZ. It’s a nice place. WiFi is ok
